Hello friends of ABC. I graduated in 1982. My pastor in Michigan, Terry Wayne Spencer, was a graduate of ABC also, and he served as a Dean at ABC. ABC provided a solid foundation for my life because it is built upon the Word of God. Since graduating, I have moved to Portland, Oregon, met my wife, Debrah, and settled here raising our four boys in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
I never will forget the days in the dorm with David Crosby, Scott Benier, Dale Brown, Steve Beaver, Bob Klavitter, Don Sharpe, Roland Cuevas, Griff, and Hoss. Of course there were many more guys there and we had a lot of fun in the dorm and around campus.
I went to Central Baptist Church all four years I was at ABC. We worked the bus routes and sang in the choir with Delmar Hill, Steve Beaver, Sue Madison, Ed Martin, Judy Carroll, Carla Cunningham, and many more.
Then there are my roommates, Fred Raiburn, Tom Smith, David Clem, and Scott Benier come to mind right now. They tolerated my foolishness and watched my back when pranks ran afoul. They joined me in hockey games in the bathroom versing the guys in the adjoining suite. They talked to me and listened to me as we learned about life.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention some of my professors. Who could ever forget Dr. Earl K. Oldham coming across the gym whistling or shouting "I love Mondays!" as he walked up to the classroom on the balcony where he was about to give the weekly quiz? Dr. Raymond Barbur hammered us with Isaiah 53, which was to be memorized for 1/4 of the grade for his class. I got a D in that class. Mrs. Helen Sullivan was just starting out and opened my eyes to the world of teaching. I have taught Sunday School at least 20 years since then. Paul Henderson taught from the heart and opened the scriptures unlike any other. Billy Buckingham, Luke Rachioppa, and Durwood Cash always made class fun.
We learned and laughed together, sought the truth and love. Though life does not always go the way we think it ought, we have our friends, memories, and God to hold and guide us on this journey of life. I am so thankful that my path went through Arlington Baptist College.

I never attended ABC or it's forerunner, but looking at the pictures brings back many memories as I was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ambassador Class ,whose sign shows in the picture of the men on firetruck,at the time that picture was made. Also the pictures of the first faculty bring back a flood of memories.
This is a fabulous site.May God bless the school and bring it to greater heights.
With love in Christ,

Kenneth and I came to the event last night and it was great to see everybody. Thank you for this website and all the work put into it. Kenneth is a pastor now, and working a regular job on top of all the responsibilities at church, I mean to tell you that he was so encouraged last night to be back at the place where he got his training. I saw a spark in his eyes that I hadn't seen in a while! Thank you so much. Great website, by the way! Keep up the good work...

Greetings, everyone! Ralph and I graduated in 1969 and went to serve among the Tarahumara Indians and later the Mayo Indians in Mexico. In 1981, while on furlough, I was able to finish B.A. In 1992, my beloved Ralph was promoted to Glory. In 1994, the Lord led me to return to the work until 2001. The Institute there still prepares workers. I'm now much involved teaching and ministering with a senior ladies S.S. class. Keeping busy until the Lord comes. Enjoy reading about all of you. God bless!

I recieved a note with a picture of me at ABC.
I was a long term project. I started in the fall of 76/77 and finished in 88. I started a family and ministry while at ABC. Family difficulties got me out of ministry for a short time, but now I am 13 years into ministry with the same small country church in Kansas (yes TOTO and Holly Mahoney I am in Kansas) My ministry is now moving in a new direction
This week I am being interviewed to become our district executive minister in 2010 if I am called.
The lord is good. I have great memories of my connections with ABC. Check out our new Web page www.salemcommunitychurch.net Remember we were called to bring glory to God and people to Christ

Had a wonderful visit on campus in November 2008 and
again in February 2009 when I came to Dallas to be
with my brother who was ill and passed away on 2/20/2009.
The visit brought back many great memories! God's
richest blessings on the school! Christian colleges are
closing their doors because of lack of finances - may we all dd all do what we can for ABC through prayer and support to
keep her work for the Lord continuing! God bless! -

I attended ABC in 1970/71, and lived in the dorm; what fun memories. I attended again in 1974/77, married at that time. After completing three years at ABC, I later finished my Bachelor of Religious Education through Bethany Bible College. I had the privilege of attending a tri-state fellowship meeting last week in Vidalia, GA; and re-acquainting with old friends of the WBF. My father was Rev. Lloyd Garmon, a graduate of Bible Baptist Seminary when Dr. Norris was there. I have enjoyed this site, and blessings on those who endeavor to keep it updated.

Reading some of these sure brought back some good memories. I attended ABC 1978-80 and some of you might remember the guy that skateboarded everywhere around campus. After I left in 1980, I went home to Florida and eventually joined the Air Force. In 1989, I switched over to the Army where I was a Military Policeman until retirement in 2006. I have a yearbook from 1978/79 that I look through sometimes and smile when I think of the friends I had made there. I wish only the best for everyone there and God bless you all. If any of you wish to contact me, my email is rebelmp06@yahoo.com. Thanks for the terrific memories, ABC

Congratulations ABC for 70 faithful years. May the 11th will be a worthy celebration time. I am sending my greetings and also in behalf of my husband John Napier. Shortly after we had returned for our fifth term to Australia and 25th year of ministry to Australia, my dear husband was taken home to Glory suddenly on November 11, 2008. During the time of 1980 to 1984 John was honored to teach at ABC and we have so many wonderful memories of those years. We have seen so many going on to serve the Lord and live for Him from ABC. That has been such a blessing to us. Praise the Lord. My contact email is jgnapier7@earthlink.net if anyone wants to contact me.
Congratulations, again, ABC and Lord bless. -

This is a page that conducts a flood of memories. For dear people and dear friends as Russell Fiddes, Steve Beaver, Sue Madison, Dale Brown, Lynn Lee, Bret Bedwell, Lynn Cotter and Scott Holtzman. My time at ABC (1977-1982) was formative and great years of learning, community and fellowship. My list of memories and personalities like most of you could go on for pages but enough to say thank you or in the words of Dr. Wayne Martin it was a tremendous involvement to say the least.

Whether it be culture, circumstance, or choice our philosophies and/or perspectives, as individuals, are continuously affected and altered. One can be divided by the very same influences that had seemingly attracted or united us. It is those differences that challenge us, pursuade us, and develop us. Cherish and embrace the thoughts, teachings, and temperments of others, even if they differ from your own ideals, for it is these things that transform us.
As I browsed through this site, reading different opinions, looking at the faces of professors, etc., a flood of emotions overcame me. The phrase "..the good ol' days" brings new meaning. -
#54
A very interesting thought for indeed as individuals and communities we should be affected and altered by experiences outside and within us. However for some that can be construed as running counter to core values and as such constitute a compromise of values. Truly there is unity in diversity depending upon the spaciousness of that gray field of diversity and we can only embrace others as they pass through and touch our lives. That is what I experienced at ABC, a wealth of relationships and a learning that affected my future thoughts and understandings. I appreciate and value the sentiment of “the good old’ days” as I prepare for the half century mark in my life yet I also believe that these are the good old days and I am very pleased to see where my college has come. Robert what is the undercurrent of your deep thoughts?

My Memories of Bible Baptist Seminary
By Jerry Fritts
I have wished for years that ABC had a network, then when I got my picture from seminary in the mail, my joy overflowed.
I pulled a 35 ft. house trailer from Vandalia, Ohio with a family of 4 to Arlington, Texas from October 28 to 31 in 1957. We also took Carol Brown, who was a member of Lloyd Meyers’ Eaton Baptist Church in Eaton, Ohio. I worked and studied hard to graduate from Bible Baptist Seminary at Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie in June of 1960.
I realize now that I never knew a more lovable, dedicated staff than those that taught me in my seminary years.
I was the first to put my house trailer on campus and establish a trailer park and it grew to 10 trailers before I left in 1960.
Two dormitories, girls and boys, had just been placed on campus. The girls dorm was just below Dr Conley’s trailer, which was where the J. Frank Norris Auditorium is now. I say placed, because they were the top part of a 2 story barracks from an army camp.
I went right to work for the school and I put gas and water lines in both the girls and boys dorms and built desks and such for each living and sleeping areas. I did other work around the school and in the school offices. They kept me busy the whole time I was in school. Leonard Brown, the missionary, introduced me to a drywall contractor he had met while working for Lee’s Market grocery store. I worked for him at times and also I worked a lot for Dr. Kemp. I even moved a hog pen for him. I dug it up and moved 2 foot of dirt where the pen had been (rich soil). Dr Kemp also had banana trees that he kept in the hot house on campus during the winter and transplanted them at his house during the summer. Mr. Harrison aided us in this activity.
Entzminger Hall still had holes in the walls where feeding troughs hung. I patched them and built the first speaker’s platform in Entzminger Hall. Dr. Entzminger’s funeral was held in the hall on June, 1958. Since I knew him but never met him, I asked Dr. Oldham if I could shake hands with him and he said “Have at it.” So I did and the casket shook quite a bit and so did he. I loved it and I also took his picture in the casket which is in the archives of the school.
Bob and Betty Williams, Billy and Berta Walker and Margaret, my wife and I were all from the same Ohio area and were best of friends through the school years. We were in the same classes and were the first class to start and finish at that location of Bible Baptist Seminary.
Dr. Kemp sent me to several places to preach. He taught a Sunday School Class for a preacher friend of Bro. Earnheart. They met in the theater in Oak Cliff and, if I am not mistaken, that is where they captured Lee Harvey Oswald. I taught that class for him one time.
When I left school I took over the young peoples class at Dayton Baptist Temple for Gerald O. Fleming in Dayton. I took a couple of tours to the Holy Land with him, B.R. Lakin and Thomas Malone.
Before we left for seminary in 1957, I had gone to the Dayton Baptist Temple for several years. I painted several homes in Vandalia, Ohio and lived in one of them when Brother Fleming and Lloyd Meyers brought Bro. Herman Bond, a 1956 graduate from Bible Baptist Seminary to my house and inquired about starting a church in Vandalia. I offered my home and we started the Vandalia Baptist Temple on September 16, 1956 at 513 Hialeah Court with 16 in attendance. It has grown to a power house for the Lord to date with Rick Washburn Jr. as it current pastor. -

Looking for Betsy Colaw-- attended ABC 1966. One of my roommates. Great idea to reconnect with old friends.
-
#61
Hadn't checked this site for quite some time. Just now enjoyed #59 from Jerry Fritts. Takes me back to days at Dayton Baptist Temple when Gerald O. (GO!) Fleming was pastor. There my husband Ralph and I were saved and baptized in 1956 when the church was just a basement. Then in 1966 we heard John Tyner, missionary to Ethiopia, give an update on the work and ask, "If the Lord called you, would you be willing to go?" We both raised our hands. Not long after, we responded to God's calling in our lives to missions and moved from Dayton to Arlington to attend Bible Baptist Seminary.
Didn't realize that Vandalia Baptist Temple started the way Bro. Fritts describes. What a wonderful beginning to a wonderful church!
I also see a query about Betsy Colaw. Knew her well. We came to Seminary at same time. Last time I saw her was in a health care facility -- a long time ago. Don't know what happened to her. I must have visited her when we were on a furlough.
I'll have to remember to come back and check this out from time to time. barwimm@yahoo.com
